This was the first painting I did from the Southwest painting series. I painted it on masonite board giving me a hard rigid brush feel. The brush strokes are very loose and expressive. I laid on a lot of paint. I wanted this impression because of the intense storm that was brewing up. There is a lot of energy in this painting and a lot of movement. It was just an awe inspiring scene. Crazy colors in clouds and sky. This is of my most satisfying paintings.
