This is a scene from the Grand Canyon. As impressive as the Grand Canyon is, the real inspiration for this painting is the twisted little tree in the upper left hand corner of the painting. I also thought this was an unusual frame of the canyons. The large rocks formations give this painting an almost abstract feel.
