These sunflowers were part of the Southwestern Series. There was a large field of them near one of the adobe buildings in New Mexico. Sunflowers have great shapes and textures. I also like the the large green leaves with the dark shadows. I've always wanted to paint sunflowers after seeing Vincent Van Gogh's famous sunflower painting.
