This a scene outside our home in Festus, MO. The iris is one my favorite flowers. When I was a kid we called them flags. This scene was a very fun study in painting bark on a tree. I used a lot of glazes to create the colors, textures and shadows in the tree bark. This painting is one of many I did in the Iris Series.
